Foxfield Pony Races at the Foxfield Fall Races• Charlottesville, VA

Thank you to the Foxfield Races Committee for adding pony racinig to their card! This is the inaugural year for pony racing.

Pony races carded include small, medium and large pony flat races, as well as a leadline trot race. All pony races will most likely run before the first steeplechase race of the day, check back closer for starting time, but most likely around 11am.

ALL mounts must be 5yo or older. Geldings and mares only. Pony Riders are not to have reached their 16th birthday (leadline must not have reached their 7th day as of the first of the year). ALL pony/rider combos must be approved (seen safely galloping in a group in control by USPR official Regina Welsh or Zack Miller) to run. It is up to each entry to seek the approval of US Pony Racing, which is located in Butler, MD. All USPR General Rules apply.

NO attendants allowed with ponies on the way to the start or at the start. USPR will make sure anyone needing a little extra help gets it. ALL entries must use a yoke or neckstrap, safety vest, an overgirth (can borrow from USPR), andsafety stirrups (with rubber band). If you do not have safety stirrups with rubber bands and other required equipment, you will not be permitted to start. Please do not come unprepared. In consideration of running the races on time, the order of races may be reorganized, pending amount of entries.

I understand that it is my responsibility to be approved by USPR to compete. All pony/rider combinations must be pre-approved before being allowed to run. Additionally, I understand that only the peacock safety stirrups (with rubberband) may be used, no other type of safety stirrup. I understand that there are no additional horses or ponies permitted on the race track grounds that are not running that day and that my pony entry will go to the paddock only accompanied by outriders and no other lead ponies. I also understand that no handlers are allowed on the course except when being released, or the entry will be disqualified. USPR staff and outriders can help entries where needed. I understand that my entry is required to have a current coggins and that no foals, dogs or other pets are allowed on the property.
