US Pony Racing and Temple Gwathmey Steeplechase Foundation will sponsor the inaugural running of the Camden Pony Derby Races Saturday, April 6th at the Springdale Racecourse. Pony and young rider races will be held prior to the first sanctioned race of the day.  ALL are encouraged to participate.  There will be a FREE CLINIC Sunday, March 31st at 3pm (time pending on availability of participants) to ensure all rider and mount combinations are suitable, understand the rules, and can maneuver in a group safely.  You do not need to participate in the races to attend the clinic.  If you wish to attend the clinic and are not participating in the races, email usponyracing@gmail.com and we will send you the exact location and particulars.  Race entries close Monday, April 1st at NOON.  The focus on these races is to have FUN and provide a safe platform for juniors and young riders to try out racing.  Races will be held on the turf.  ENTRIES CLOSE at noon on April 1st, see below to enter.

RIDER NOTICES

RULES:
•  ALL riders (except lead line) MUST wear an overgirth, neck strap or yoke, approved helmet, and safety stirrups.
•  ALL mounts MUST be at least 5 years of age.
• ALL General Rules apply.
•  Ponies may be measured if their size is questionable.
•  Pony riders in open races are not to have had their 16th bday as of January 1st.
•  Young Rider Flat Race entrants may use racing tack, but must have their stirrup and boot combination pre-approved by USPR official before being permitted to run.
•  No whips, spurs, blinkers, or any strange contraptions or check reins (standing and running martingales are permitted).
•  ALL entries must have a signed release with health insurance information listed before being permitted to run.
• . Please leave your other pets and horses/ponies that are not running at home.
• All entries must have proof of a valid negative coggins and if you are from out of state, a valid health certificate.

OTHER INFO
•  Stalls will may be available for entries shipping in and needing to overnight. Bedding will not be provided. Stalls must be stripped and shed row raked before you leave. If you need a stall, please contact USPR ASAP.
•  FREE clinic/approval session Sunday, March 31st at 3pm. Contact Allison Fulmer 803-549-1499 for confirmation of time and specific location. Additional approval opportunities may take place, communicate with Allison if you are interested.

Entries paid by cash in advance or check must be received by entry closing date, as well as PayPal or Venmo must be sent to USPonyRacing@gmail.com by closing date. If you multiple entries, you can pay all at once by sending total amount to usponyracing@gmail.com via Venmo or PayPal, but please make a note on which entries you are paying for.
